Cosmetic surgery risks

There are inconveniences and risks associated with any surgery. All possible complications of your operation will be discussed during your first consultation. If you encounter any impediment during your recovery, or if you are worried about something, please let us know, and we will do our best to assist.

01/

Infections: it is not uncommon for some redness to occur at the suture site. Infections rarely happen, but if they do, they can be easily treated with antibiotics. As a precautionary measure, Dr Pirayesh will give you a prescription for antibiotics for 5 to 7 days.

02/

Occasionally, fluid accumulation may arise immediately after surgery which demands a small extra operation to unload. Fortunately, this is very rare. Not infrequently, especially when it concerns tummy tucks, there is some accumulation of fluid, which a nearly painless puncture can easily remedy during a check-up visit.

03/

Scarring: most scars will blur but never completely disappear. How well your scars heal will depend on your care during your recovery period. Dr Pirayesh has developed a customised regimen, APS Scar Care, including aloe vera-based creams, laser treatments, and (if necessary) injections to ensure that your scars heal in the best possible way.

04/

Changed sensation: it is customary to notice changes in sensation of the operation site after surgery. Typically, it takes some time before everything feels completely normal again.

05/

Posture: you may not be able to walk upright right after, e.g. a tummy tuck, and you should concentrate on improving your posture. The sooner you do this, the faster you will recover.
